• How are you different from other resume developers?
    • Accomplished Journalist: Cynthia’s newspaper and magazine background sets her apart from other resume developers. With 30+ years of professional writing experience to her credit—she published her first magazine article before she earned a driver’s license—Cynthia prepares high-impact resumes that tell your career story with power and purpose. She considers your goals, how you plan to use the resume (seek a new job, land consulting engagements, gain a promotion or secure a Board of Directors appointment) and your target audience to set the strategy and structure. She reviews two job descriptions for positons you’d like to pursue to ensure that your new resume is properly aligned with those roles.

Each resume (and any other career document Cynthia develops for you) is customized to promote your personal brand, communicate the value you bring to potential employers and showcase your key achievements. Cynthia knows how to ask probing questions to tease out the relevant details, data and context that will bring your career story to life. As a VP of Marketing from Louisiana noted, “Cynthia’s journalistic approach to interviewing helped me identify strengths and information to include that I would have otherwise overlooked.”

Skilled Designer: Cynthia’s resume designs command attention. She follows current industry “best practices,” which include tasteful use of color, shading, contemporary font and other graphic elements that make the resume “pop.” Resumes take their design personality from how your name, contact information and title are presented on page 1, so Cynthia prepares six resume top design samples for your review and selection. No two designs are identical, and Cynthia will modify the design throughout the process to ensure that you love the look. As a CEO from Florida explained, “Cynthia designed a resume for me that has the correct balance of color, shading and text boxes. It’s eye-catching without being showy. Executive recruiters think it looks great—and I do, too!”

Superb Customer Service: Cynthia is client-focused, with a personal touch that immediately puts people at ease and a passion for helping them succeed that comes through from the start. Clients appreciate her energy, knowledge and responsiveness. As an Operations Director in Texas stated, “Cynthia was more than patient; she was kind. She made me feel as if I were a valuable client. I never felt like I was in line with many other clients, but rather I felt that her entire attention was on my resume and getting me the best product possible.”

  • Do you offer service packages, such as “resume and LinkedIn profile?”
    • Yes. Cynthia will customize a package of services based on your goals and needs. The most-requested packages are “resume and LinkedIn profile” and “resume and cover letter.”  Many C-suite clients also purchase an executive bio and/or a networking resume in addition to the primary resume.

  • Do you use worksheets to write resumes?
    • No. Cynthia develops your new resume and professional brand based on the information in your existing resume (if you have one) and the new information she uncovers during the in-depth phone interview. To help you prepare, Cynthia provides her signature “Career Reflection Exercise” (CRE)—specifically tailored to your role, level and industry. The CRE serves as the roadmap for the interview. Jotting down some answers will help you organize your thoughts, but it’s not necessary to submit a completed CRE beforehand.

Most clients spend an hour or two reviewing the CRE and find it to be time well spent, because it forces them to think deeply and critically about their strengths, successes and patterns throughout their career—all topics that will come up during a job interview. The resume Cynthia prepares for you will only be as strong as the information you provide. As a Business Development Leader from Virginia noted, “Cynthia’s Career Reflection Exercise and interview really helped me focus on what I have done and where I want to go. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth the effort. A great process!”

  • I’m interested in your writing services. How do I get started?
    • Email or call Cynthia to schedule a 15-minute phone consult to discuss your career situation and job target. (Send along your existing resume, if you have one.) Once Cynthia understands your background, goals and needs, she will provide a personalized quote and work proposal that spell out the scope of the project (resume alone—or resume with a LinkedIn profile or other add-on service), cost and payment terms.

  • What is your fee?
    • Cynthia’s fees are based on the complexity of the project and the hours involved to complete it. A two-page resume starts at $375 for professionals with up to 10 years of experience, but fees for directors, executives and C-suite leaders are higher.

  • Do you require full payment in advance?
    • No. Cynthia divides the fee into two payments—a 50% deposit before the preparation materials are released and a 50% balance before the draft is released. Credit card payment via PayPal is the preferred method, but she also accepts personal checks.

  • What is your turnaround time?
    • Your draft resume will be ready within 7-10 business days from the time you complete the in-depth phone interview. Once you review the draft and update it with additional information and/or changes, Cynthia will prepare the “prefinal” version for your approval.  She will deliver the “final” resume after you have signed off on the “prefinal” or made a second round of revisions.

  • When do you conduct interviews?
    • Interviews take place Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern. Most interviews run an hour to 90 minutes. Senior-level clients who require more time can divide the interview into two sessions.

  • Who are your clients?
    • Cynthia serves a diverse national clientele that ranges from new graduates to C-suite leaders in all industries. The majority are senior-level executives, with advanced degrees (MBA, MS, MA, Ph.D., MD, JD, Ed.D., etc.) and compensation between $200K and $1M. Cynthia’s clients represent dozens of industry-leading organizations, including Microsoft, General Electric, Johnson & Johnson, Tenet Healthcare, Prudential, Boston Scientific, General Dynamics, Starbucks, Dow Jones & Company, National Institutes of Health, Pfizer and the U.S. military.

  • Do you do resume updates for returning clients?
    • Yes. Cynthia will add your new job and accomplishments to the resume she created for you, as well as refresh the summary section, branding statement and design. The cost varies based on the amount of work involved.

  • What is your refund policy?
    • Cynthia does not offer refunds on any of her writing services. However, her work is 100% satisfaction guaranteed! She will not release the final documents until two rounds of revisions have been completed and you have given her the green light to do so. Cynthia will seek your feedback at every step of the process to ensure that you are satisfied with both resume content and design. Cynthia’s clients are so pleased with her services that 90% of her business comes from referrals and returning clients!

  • Can I check your references?
    • Absolutely!  Cynthia will put you in touch with a client in your industry to learn firsthand about her process and product. You also can read what clients have to say about Cynthia’s skills on the testimonials page of this website.
